Protecting Seniors From Unethical Reverse Mortgage Lenders

Protecting seniors from unethical reverse mortgage lenders
We are a member of the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA), and adhere to standards and a code of conduct that protect the interests of the senior community and their families.

There are many safeguards in place to protect seniors from unethical reverse mortgage lenders. While reverse mortgage products can be an excellent financial solution for some seniors, they may not always be the right fit for everyone’s circumstances. We take the financial security of seniors very seriously, and focus our efforts on education, not selling.

How We Protect Seniors

Our consumer safeguards for senior citizens include:

  • A personal, one-on-one consultation with an expert to analyze your needs and ensure that one of our many reverse mortgage options is truly the right solution for you. We then share with you a detailed cost analysis and comparison breakdown.
  • We provide you with a printed version of the Reverse Mortgage Comparison Breakdown, plus our own proprietary comparison chart that simplifies the numbers even more. We review this breakdown with you to ensure that you clearly understand the options, benefits, and limitations of various Reverse Mortgage scenarios.
  • We strongly encourage you to reach out and seek advice from loved ones, including family and friends, as well as financial and/or legal advisors regarding your decision to move forward with a Reverse Mortgage. We will even meet with them to answer their questions.
  • Before a Reverse Mortgage application is prepared, we will provide you with the name of a professionally trained HUD approved counselor, and arrange for them to furnish you with an expert objective overview, and discuss with you your Reverse Mortgage options.

Upon your acceptance and approval, we will again review the selected program to further ensure a proper and educated decision has been made. We then submit the application to our underwriting department. Underwriting will perform a secondary review of the program and product choice.

Once the final review is conducted and closing is complete, a “Reverse Mortgage Loan Report Card” is mailed to you in order to provide you with a thorough breakdown with objective opinions and comments.

Ultimately, our goal is to help our senior clients find the perfect solution for their needs. To do so, we firmly believe in educating our clients, and allowing them access to straightforward, objective information and answers.
